Kid Rock Set to Headline Caribbean Cruise in April 2012 | My Family Travels

If it’s April in Florida, it’s time for Kid Rock. For the third go-around, Kid Rock’s Chillin’ the Most Cruise is back and on a larger scale than ever before. The date is set for April 26-30, 2012 and will set off from Miami, Florida on the Carnival Destiny.

The Caribbean cruise vacation will also include a full day at sea and two days of rock and music on the beach in Half Moon Cay, a private island in the Bahamas, appropriately dubbed “Rock’s Reef” for the trip.

Cruise headliner Kid Rock is bringing celebrity friends and musicians, too, whose names will be released later this summer. In 2011, Kid Rock brought along Rev Run, Gretchen Wilson, John Stone, Ty Stone and the Howling Diablos, among others, so you can be sure his crew will be fun. Fun at least for parents and teens, as Kid Rock's colorful career began with his first album in 1990.

Born Robert James "Bob" Ritchie, Kid Rock is said to have been a poor Michigan street kid, drug dealer and pimp (facts are disputed) before reaching stardom as a rap star. He has five Grammy nominations and has six Platinum-selling albums to his credit. He has raised son Robert James Ritchie Jr., now a teen, as a single dad in Detroit. Divorced from actress Pamela Anderson, he was famously barred from performing at the Bush Inauguration (a request of the Bush daughters) by conservatives. However, he is still very active in Republican politics and is a prominent contributor to Detroit area charities and other causes.  Kid Rock divides his time, when not on tour or entertaining troops for USO, between Detroit, California and a Nashville condo.

The 2011 cruise drew in 2,900 people, making it the second sell-out trip in a row for Sixthman, the custom cruise company. After the cruise, Sixthman reviewed guest surveys to tailor the 2012 cruise on feedback: adding a beach concert, staying at the port for two days, and choosing a site that will create a more intimate environment for fans. "We can't wait to see the stage rockin' on Half Moon Cay for all of Kid Rock's fans," said Sixthman CEO Andy Levine. "We were presented with a challenge to make this year even better that 2010 and 2011, and we have no doubt it will happen."

Kid Rock fans can go to for more details. Returning guests will have first chance at booking their cabins once sales begin; new guests can sign up for the mailing list and will be notified of on-sale information as soon as it is available.

Sixthman, the company in charge of the Kid Rock cruise, creates theme cruises with an emphasis on celebrating music and fan communities. Sixthman has partnered with bands ranging from KISS to Barenaked Ladies, Sarah MacLachlan to the Zac Brown Band, and brands such as VH1, Graceland, and Turner Classic Movies.
